Spiritual Growth Opportunities for Fall 2011
There will be a number of different Bible studies offered this fall at Reveille. Check this out.
ALPHA 10-week exploration of the basics of Christianity Thursday evenings, 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. September 8 through November 17
Through video and small group discussion, this class presents an opportunity to ask questions and explore one's faith. The aim is for participants to grow in their faith. Invite a friend who is new to Christianity to sign up with you.
DISCIPLE BIBLE STUDIES
Disciple 1: Becoming Disciples through Bible Study 34-week survey of the Bible Sunday evenings, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Begins September 11
Disciple 1 is the foundation course for the entire Disciple series. Over 70% of the Bible is covered in Disciple 1 bringing together the major themes and figures in the Old and New Testament. This study will bring new insights to those who have limited knowledge of the Bible and will also engage those who are familiar with the Bible.
Disciple 4: Under the Tree of Life 32-week class on wisdom literature, John, and Revelation Sunday evenings, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Begins September 11
Graduates of Disciple 1 are welcome to participate in Disciple 4. Throughout this study there is an emphasis on the Psalms as Israel's hymnbook and prayer book, which leads naturally to an emphasis on worship. Present though the entire study is the sense of living toward completion, toward the climax of the message and the promise extravagantly pictured in The Book of Revelation.
IMMERSION BIBLE STUDY 8-week study of the Gospel of Matthew Sunday evenings, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Begins October 2
This new 8-week Bible study using the new Common English Bible promises to immerse those participating in a fresh understanding of the Gospel of Matthew as they use a translation that is easy to read but also is true to the original texts of the Bible.
LIVING THE GOOD LIFE TOGETHER Multiple 12-week studies to inspire and equip Christians for daily living
This is a unique series of video and book studies in which participants explore key features of Christian character and then, as a group, apply what has been learned to daily life.
Hospitality: Risking Welcome Sunday evenings from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Begins September 18, 2011
Hospitality is basic to our lives as Christian disciples. The class will explore what it means to welcome others, as well as what it means to be welcomed. The first six weeks are a time of "come and see" followed by the remaining six weeks known as "go and do."
Carol Uzzle, Minister for Teaching and Learning, will be glad to answer your questions and help you find the group just right for you. E-mail her here or call her at 359-6041, ext. 117. Child care is provided for all studies.

So Many Options at Reveille UMC
Loving God
Journey 101 - Loving God begins this Sunday
The path of discipleship moves us from loving God with our hearts, to knowing God with our heads, to serving God with our hands.
Have you signed up yet to participate in Journey 101: Loving God? This six-week class led by our senior pastor, Jim Noland, will begin this Sunday, August 7 at 5:00 p.m.
The Loving God classes explore regular spiritual disciplines as a means of receiving God's grace resulting in the transformation of our hearts. Topics covered include worship, prayer, study, guidance, fasting and discerning God's will.
We anticipate that students in Journey 101: Loving Godnot only will learn and practice the spiritual disciplines around which the class is built but will also form lasting relationships with the other Christians gathered around their table each week. If such bonds do form, we encourage the small group to continue growing by participating in the other two Journey 101 classes. It is our hope that these bonds will lead to the formation of a small group that will stay together for a longer period of time, growing together in intentional ways, and serving God together.
To register for Journey 101: Loving God, click here or contact Carol Uzzle, Minister for Teaching and Learning at 359-6041 ext. 117, if you do not have access to a computer.
Other classes in this series include Journey 101: Knowing God, which will be offered in November and December, and Journey 101: Serving God in January and February.
